Online Play
Face the rest of the world online! Join servers hosted all across the world, or host your own!
For The Best Experience…
- When playing a netgame, your inputs and messages take time to travel through tne network. For the best control response, play on servers close to you, and use a wired Internet connection.
- Your input delay will be displayed in the lower-right corner. If your delay is consistently higher than D4, consider looking for a closer server.
- If your delay icon has a colored border, your connection to the server is unstable.
- To practice for online play, use the “Minimum Input Delay” option in Profile Setup. Dr. Robotnik’s Ring Racers was developed and tested in D2.
- For fair play, when hosting a netgame, you’ll receive the same input delay as the player with the best connection.
- Content accessed via EGGA Channel has not been rated by the ESRB, or by anyone else. Be kind and respectful to your fellow racers!
Online Menu
When entering Online Mode, you’ll have three options:
- Host Game: Host your own game of Ring Racers! You can pick the gametype and set various server options before starting your game, including if you wish to publicly advertise it on the Master Server or keep it private.
- Browse: Join a server on the Master Server! See the next section for more details.
- Direct Join: Join a netgame via its IP, whether or not it’s public on the Master Server or privately hosted. You can also quickly reconnect to a server you recently joined.
Head to ms.kartkrew.org for a public server list, including addon listings and hosting rules.
Server Browser
Servers in Ring Racers are split into two categories:
- Core servers have no addons.
- Modded servers have addons, and may require additional downloads.
The default server listing puts games in need of players at the top—help kick-start a small lobby and make some friends! However, you can also sort by other options, including:
- Ping
- Average Power Level
- Most Players
- Least Players
- Gametype
- Number of Player Slots
Put It To A Vote!
While playing online, a new option will appear in the Pause Menu. Depending on the server’s settings, you can vote to restart courses, skip courses, change gametype, or give troublesome players the boot.
When a vote is called, the whole lobby will hear a sound, and a unique marker will appear in the corner of the screen. Tap Z to see what the vote’s all about—then, hold Z to vote Yes, or ignore it to vote No. The vote will complete after a certain period of time, or after a majority is reached.
