Match Race Mode

In Match Race, you can play single races exactly the way you’d like them. Great for practice, goofing off, or hunting for Challenges!

Practice Makes PWR!

If you’re having trouble with late rounds of a certain GP, you can use Match Race to practice without needing to play through the tournament. You can even disable CPUs, or lower their level—after all, it can be hard to focus on clean cornering when someone’s bashing your rear bumper.

• Gear Select: Change the overall speed of the game.
• CPU: Select the overall difficulty of CPU racers, or disable them.
• Racers: CPU racers will fill the ranks until you have this many competitors. (No effect with CPU OFF.)
• Item Switch: Press Y to quickly access Item Options, letting you control what items can appear in your race. See the “Items” section for more details.

• Disable all items, and all Item Boxes will be replaced with reduced-power Ring Boxes—for a true test of handling skill!
• When playing alone, the Item Roulette will contain one of every enabled item, including restricted items like the Self-Propelled Bomb. Items that change behavior based on 1st place, like Garden Top and Flame Shield, will always be at full power.
